Indie Rock PLUS Derek Cardigan’s. – does that not sound like a match made in heaven? We recently attended Zerbin’s show at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, BC. Zerbin is a band of four guys who not only rock but rock out with Derek Cardigan’s! From Edmonton, Alberta the band is currently touring Canada and we were lucky enough to catch their show here.
From left to right:Meet Jason, lead singer of the band. He describes his style as ‘fashionable yet affordable’. He chose to wear the Derek Cardigan 7014 Black Ice frames. Next up, Derek who plays the bass. He chose the Derek Cardigan 7014 Black Rootbeer frames and he sees his style as both ‘love and value’. We can’t forget to mention, if you’d like a match in ping-pong, he’s your guy! Next is Nick who plays the drums. He defines his style as ‘comfortable’ which is true to the Derek Cardigan brand. Nick chose the Derek Cardigan 7010 Blackout frames. Last but certainly not least is Peter who plays the guitar. He wore the Derek Cardigan 7014 Black Fade frames.
Check out our video for our great meet and greet with the band. Get a backstage pass to their sense of styles and great personalities.
In celebration of Earth Day, we put our thinking caps on and have come up with some pretty nifty ways to reuse your old contact lens cases.
Now, if you’ve been wearing contact lenses since before you can remember, you probably have a bathroom cabinet or makeup drawer full of these little guys. But before you go throwing them away, why not try one, two, or if you’re feeling adventurous, three, of our suggestions on how to give your contact lens cases a second life to keep them out of the landfill.
Beads, Buttons & Thread – Nothing feels better than finally buying that jacket you’ve had your eye on… but what to do with that extra button they always give you? Use your old contact lens case for storage! Small to medium size buttons stack 6-10 per case.
Earrings – Drill tiny little holes, put a hook through them and hang them on your ears. No no… use your old contact lens case to store your earrings! Having an extra set or extra backings at the office, in your purse or at home is always a good idea. They’re a perfect size, easy to find and are secured with a lid. How clever.
Earplugs – Traveling to new places, you never know when earplugs may come in handy. We recommend storing them in your old lens case to keep them clean, dry, undamaged and easy to find!
Vitamins & Medications – Now we know walking around with a 400 pill Aspirin container may look (and sound) a little suspicious, imagine trying to explain it to coworkers or boarder security! So why not use your old contact lens case to store a more useful amount. One container can hold up to 10 Aspirins… just enough to last you for that weekend birthday celebration!
Glitter & Paint – Get Crafty! Use your old contact lens cases to sort those tiny items in your craft kit or to help down size some of your paint containers.
Loose Eye Shadow & Mineral Makeup – Cute tiny clutches are perfect for a night on the town, however they quickly run short of space! Down size and make your touch-ups easy and portable. Items like mineral makeup and loose eye shadow can be perfectly stored in your old contact lens cases.
Extra Screws, Nuts & Bolts – We have all assembled do-it-yourself furniture from Ikea. Two long hours later and you’re done. Ugh. Then the panic sets in, why are there extra screws left? Did I forget something? Probably not, but for peace of mind why not keep your spare screws, nails, nuts and bolts in your old contact lens cases. You can even label them to match the piece of furniture.
Hair & Beauty Kit – Use your old contact lens case as an emergency hair and beauty kit. Store hair gel, moisturizer or hand cream in the containers and wrap your hair elastics around the centre.
If you have an idea, we would love to hear it! Like this post and comment below.
What better way to embrace the fast approaching summer season than by surrounding yourself with amazing music and even more amazing style! This year (like every year) Coachella music festival can pat itself on the back for hosting one of the most impressive music lineups around. And this is no secret, just check out the number of celebrities that made sure to be seen… all rocking their favourite festival sunglasses might we add.
So, whether you’re one of the lucky buggers that got tickets to the 2nd weekend of Coachella kicking off today, or you have another music festival lined up… there’s no better time than the present to pick out your go-to festival shades! Here’s a little inspiration…
We all know that glasses lend a certain… je-ne-sais-quoi to your look. It’s a style choice, but for most of us, it’s also a necessity. We wear glasses because we need them to be able to see, and they help us get through the day with minimal bruises.
There seems to be a new trend that’s taking over though: glasses without prescription lenses; glasses that are solely an accessory to whatever look you may be trying to achieve. And now, in recent history, glasses are infiltrating the court room!
Achieving a certain look with your frames is generally considered to be a purely aesthetic choice, but did you know that your aesthetic can say a lot about you?
Have you heard about the nerd defense? A recent U.S. court case had a group of defendants wear thick plastic framed glasses – with no prescription in the lenses – as a tool to help convince the jury they were innocent. In the Washington Post, one lawyer says, “Often times it’s about perception, and glasses help with that perception.”
While it may not be the most ethical choice for a court case, there is nothing illegal about finding a new style that works for you! What look are you going for?
Whatever it is, with over 1,000 eyeglasses to choose from there’s bound to be a style that’s perfect for you – whether or not you actually need them to see.
